Leadership and Staff
Center Director
Sara Kahana joined the JCC Early Learning Center at Newton in the Summer of 2005. Sara earned her BA in History, Teaching Certificate from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and a Masters Degree in Social work from Boston College. After graduation, Sara continued her professional development at Simmons College and summer program at UC Berkeley. Prior to joining the JCC, Sara had worked in Communities United, Inc., a childcare agency for 17 years holding various supervisory positions as a director. Sara is responsible for the center's daily operations. In addition, she is the liaison between the Early Learning Center and the Leventhal-Sidman Jewish Community Center. Sara is passionate about the preschool community, children and their families.
Assistant Director
Edye Fine is the Assistant Director of the JCC Early Learning Center. She joined us in August and brings to the center her 13 years experience in the field of Early Childhood Educations. With her Masters Degree in Early Childhood Education and her Director Certification from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care (EEC), Edye is a valuable asset to our administrative staff. Most recently, Edye worked in the Manhattan JCC Preschool where she was a lead teacher. Prior to that, Edye worked for 6 years in Brookline and familiar with the JCC Community. As the Assistant Director, she supports the Director in all aspects of center management.
Other staff
Each classroom in the Bernice B. Godine Early Learning Center summer camp is staffed with dedicated and certified preschool educators in accordance with Massachusetts state regulations.
