Camp Overview

Frequently Asked Questions

My child loves the arts but is not especially gifted in any one area. Will s/he be comfortable at Kaleidoscope?

Absolutely. We focus on process more than on outcome. Arts exploration and fun in a nurturing environment are the cornerstones of the camp.

Is Kaleidoscope “boy-friendly”?

Kaleidoscope is a coed camp and attracts children of all ages, genders and abilities. Activities are designed to be appealing to both boys and girls.

My child is not interested in sports and is not competitive at all. What is the camp’s culture like?

Campers range from those who love to challenge themselves physically, to those who prefer quieter, gentler forms of recreation. Physical activity is an important part of our days. While we encourage exercise, Kaleidoscope sports emphasize teamwork and having fun over competition. Aside from swimming, campers may opt out of sports activities with parent approval.

My child is afraid to swim. How do you handle this at camp?

All children are gently tested through the LSJCC aquatics department and placed in appropriate settings. Parents are welcome to call with any questions or to see how their child is doing.

What is the camp’s Jewish content?

JCC Kaleidoscope Camp is open to the entire community. Our staff and campers share a sense of Jewish pride, and Jewish themes are woven through camp life; however, campers of all faiths are welcome.

All food provided by the camp is certified kosher.
