Self-expression is at the heart of Jewish
life and values. The JCC's renowned cultural arts program includes a
wide variety of classes and individual instruction in the arts that
creates a vibrant year-round environment for developing skills and
interests in the visual arts, music, drama and dance at every age and
level. Our master faculty, many of whom are affiliated with Boston
museums such as the MFA and the DeCordova, are experts in their media
and serve as mentors and teachers. Please see our course catalogs for
lists of currently offered classes.
Performing arts
If theatre is your passion, check out the acclaimed Jewish Theatre of
New England, presenting a performing arts series of nationally and
internationally recognized performers whose work reflects the richness
of Jewish culture and the complexities of Jewish identity. Each season
offers an exciting array of theatre, music, comedy, and cabaret. The
Magic Ark Children's Series is a delightful way to introduce younger
children to theatrical experiences that are age-appropriate in content
and length.
Young dancers can learn the basics of movement and music theory, and
the more experienced can refine their technique, working with
experienced dancers and dance instructors at the Siagel Dance Academy
at Striar.
Fine arts
The Perkins Gallery at the Striar JCC is the only South Area gallery
focused on Jewish-themed art, and provides exhibition space for local,
national and international artists.
Literature
Are you a bibliophile? Then you must get to know the Boston Jewish Book
Fair! Learn about what's new in Jewish literature and on Jewish themes
and meet the authors. And share your love of literature in a JCC book
club or enrichment class.
JCC Kaleidoscope Creative
Arts and Science Camp
In the summer, the JCC Kaleidoscope Creative Arts and Science Camp
provides campers grades K-8 or high schoolers (CIT/intern) with a
wealth of hands-on experience in the arts.
The New Center for Arts
and Culture
The Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston is also a proud
institutional sponsor of The New Center for Arts and Culture, a
cutting-edge intellectual and cultural hub that explores societal
change through arts and culture to create common ground in the diverse
world of the 21st century. Currently operating as a museum without
walls, the New Center partners with other diverse organizations to
create and present unique programs that educate, inform, and spark
dialogue. |
