Zohar
camping program
Zohar means brightness and splendor. The Zohar
inclusive overnight camping program at JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood is
designed to meet the social and spiritual needs of Jewish adolescents
with different learning styles. Zohar campers may have developmental
disabilities, neurological, learning and/or mental health challenges.
Campers ages 11-15 participate in all camp-wide programs and daily
events with the support and supervision of specially trained staff. The
Zohar camper-to-bunk staff ratio is 2 to 1.
For more information, visit the Zohar program on the JCC Maccabi Camp Kingswood
website or call (617) 558-6528.
JCC Grossman Camp Special Needs program
The Special Needs program at JCC Grossman Camp provides the opportunity
for children who have mild special needs to follow a regular camp
program. Experienced counselors provide these campers with added
structure and individualized support. There are specialized groups as
well as the opportunity for inclusion. Children must be interviewed to
assess whether JCC Grossman Camp can accommodate them appropriately.
For more information, visit the JCC Grossman Camp website or call (617) 244-5124.
Our other camps also accommodate children with Special Needs. Call each
camp for more information.
The Ledgewood Special Needs Program at the JCC Early
Learning Centers
The Ledgewood Special Needs Program provides supportive
services to JCC preschool students who have a variety of learning
differences. Ledgewood specialists consult with classroom teachers to
help adapt the classroom and learning environment to meet each child's
needs. They also work with families on general developmental issues
such as adjustment to a new sibling, sleep, moving, or family crises.
Evaluation and referrals to outside services are also available, if
needed. For more information, call (617) 558-6423.
