Music, Movement and Me with a Jewish Twist

Sing, dance and play with a variety of musical genres. Enjoy a fun exciting, interactive early childhood music and movement class. In the “Parent/Caregiver and Me” style, we sing, dance and play to both Jewish and secular tunes. Shaker eggs, bells, sticks and other colorful props are used to delight the children and stimulate their senses. Via musical play, we work on the following: natural musical instincts and expressions; musical contrasts – loud and soft, fast and slow, high and low; gross motor and fine motor skills; rhythm and tone. The PJ Library

The PJ Library (yes, PJ as in pajamas) is a Jewish journey through books and reading. Each participating family receives a monthly mailing of a Jewish children's book, musical CD or occasional parenting resource. Selections feature a wide array of themes such as Jewish holidays, folktales and Jewish family life. Along with the books and music, families will receive parenting resources to enhance the reading experience.
The PJ Library is a national project created by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and is offered locally by the JCCGB, together with generous funding from local donors and in partnership with Jewish Family Service of Metrowest. PLEASE NOTE: We are currently oversubscribed but welcome your interest! To join the PJ Library waiting list and receive notification of Greater Boston PJ Library family programs, which are open to all, please contact us at pjlibrary@jccgb.org.
Develop your child’s love for Jewish life through music, art and movement! One-hour, weekly classes cover Jewish topics such as Shabbat, mitzvot, tzedakah, Israel, or a holiday and include singing and interactive movement to original and traditional Jewish music; arts and crafts projects; and storytelling.

Teen Challenge

A unique program for teens with mild developmental challenges who miss some of the life skills that their peers seem to learn so effortlessly. This program is appropriate for teenagers diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome or Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities. These classes will include field trips into the community to practice the newly acquired skills.
During the upcoming years the following topics will be addressed by the two current groups:
Group A: Transition from high school and beyond
Group B: Dating and all its complexities.

Teen Friendship Group
Ages: 13 – 21
Dates: Offered monthly on Sunday afternoons (2-6pm)

A friendship group designed to meet the social needs of teenagers who have mild to moderate developmental challenges. This fall, teens will meet monthly with group advisors to plan their leisure time activities. They will also participate in regular community field trips. Past activities have included use of the JCC climbing wall in Newton, hiking at Blue Hills, bowling, and visits to the MFA and Fuller Art Museum.

Cooking 101, Adults (Special Needs)
This is a new class for young adults wishing to learn the basics of cooking and wanting to gain a sense of independence in the kitchen. The participants will have an opportunity to plan and cook their own meals, discuss nutrition and allergies, and master related shopping skills .

Striar Adult Activity Group

JCCGB is proud to be a South Area host site for Me’ah, the two-year adult Jewish learning program sponsored by Hebrew College and Combined Jewish Philanthropies’ Commission on Jewish Continuity and Education. Taught by renowned professors and scholars, Me’ah gives students the opportunity to grow as literate students of Jewish life, and to join a growing community of adult learners. The program immerses students in core Jewish texts, providing them with a framework for understanding Jewish culture and civilization across four eras—biblical, rabbinic, medieval and modern.
