Visit our New Mom's Group in Easton at Temple Chayai Shalom
Meet and share with other moms of new babies who are experiencing the joys  and challenges of parenthood. This group provides a wonderful opportunity to ask questions and share ideas with other mothers every Tuesday beginning December 8th. There is no charge for this group. The PJ Library®

The PJ Library (yes, PJ as in pajamas) is a Jewish journey through books and reading. Each participating family receives a monthly mailing of a Jewish children's book or musical CD. Selections feature a wide array of themes such as Jewish holidays, folktales and Jewish family life. Along with the books and music, families will receive parenting resources to enhance the reading experience.

The PJ Library is a national project created by the Harold Grinspoon Foundation and is administered locally by the Jewish Community Centers of Greater Boston, with additional generous funding from local donors.

Diller Teens for Tzedek Fellowship

JCCGB is proud to be a South of Boston area host site for Me’ah, the two-year adult Jewish learning program sponsored by Hebrew College and Combined Jewish Philanthropies’ Commission on Jewish Continuity and Education. Taught by renowned professors and scholars, Me’ah gives students the opportunity to grow as literate students of Jewish life, and to join a growing community of adult learners. The program immerses students in core Jewish texts, providing them with a framework for understanding Jewish culture and civilization across four eras—biblical, rabbinic, medieval and modern.

Special Needs 

ADULTS

Cooking 101, Adults
This is a new class for young adults wishing to learn the basics of cooking and wanting to gain a sense of independence in the kitchen.  The participants will have an opportunity to plan and cook their own meals, discuss nutrition and allergies, and master related shopping skills .
Dates: Wednesday evenings
Location: SNCARC in Westwood
Fees: $30/meeting for two hour class meeting

Striar Adult Activity Group
Dates: Mondays (6:30-9:30pm)
Location: BAMSI Day Hab facility, Washington St., Stoughton
A monthly social group for adults with moderate developmental challenges, offering an opportunity for a variety of leisure time activities. The focus of the group will be on social and recreational activities such as dancing, craft projects, miniature golfing, and cooking.
Fees: $35/meeting

CHILDREN & TEENS

Adapted Aquatics, Children
Ages: 2-22

A weekly swim class for children with developmental, perceptual, and /or physical challenges.  Children are grouped by skill.  Classes are taught by an adapted aquatics instructor.  All applicants to this program are pre-screened  through the Special Needs Services Department.  Enrollment is limited.
Fees:  $35/private lesson; $30/semi-private lesson; $25/group lesson

Social Skills
Ages: 8-12 with Aspergers Syndrome and Nonverbal Learning Disabilities (other diagnoses will be considered)
Dates: Thursday afternoons
Location: Braintree Teen Center
The social skills program is designed to meet the needs of children who could benefit from additional instruction in how to engage their peers in positive social interaction. This program is focused on meeting the needs of children diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome or Non Verbal Learning Disabilities, however, children with other diagnoses will be considered.  A screening interview is required prior to acceptance into this program
Fee: $30/class

Teen Challenge
Ages: 13 to 21
Dates: Thursdays (6:30-8pm twice per month)

A unique program for teens with mild developmental challenges who miss some of the life skills that their peers seem to learn so effortlessly.  This program is appropriate for teenagers diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome or Non-Verbal Learning Disabilities.  These classes will include field trips into the community to practice the newly acquired skills
During the upcoming years the following topics will be addressed by the two current groups:
Group A:  Transition from high school and beyond
Group B:  Dating and all its complexities.
Fees: $40/class

Fun and Games
Ages: Class 1: Ages 2.9 to 5; Class 2: Ages 6 to 8
Dates: Sunday afternoons

A wonderful opportunity to learn skills related to playing games with one of our most popular instructors.  This program is designed to meet the needs of children who may benefit from a smaller class due to attentional issues or mild developmental concerns. 
Fees: $20/class                       

Teen Friendship Group
Ages: 13 – 21
Dates:  Offered monthly on Sunday afternoons (2-6pm)

A friendship group designed to meet the social needs of teenagers who have mild to moderate developmental challenges. This fall, teens will meet monthly with group advisors to plan their leisure time activities. They will also participate in regular community field trips.  Past activities have included use of the JCC climbing wall in Newton, hiking at Blue Hills, bowling, and visits to the MFA and Fuller Art Museum.
Fees:  $40/class
